Before & After – This 1908 Home In San Francisco Has Received A Contemporary Remodel

S^A (Schwartz and Architecture) has designed the complete contemporary remodel of a 1908 home in Glen Park, a residential neighborhood in San Francisco, California.

Over the years, the home had been compromised by awkward remodels, with the front door leading directly to the private bedroom level, while the public gathering spaces were one-level down, with the main staircase nearly dropping you into the existing kitchen.

At the rear of the home, potentially spectacular views of an existing mature redwood tree and broad city views beyond were entirely ignored and inaccessible.

The updated house includes a new split-level entryway and staircase, with the lower level leading down to the main social areas of the home. On the way down the staircase, there’s a platform that’s home to a casual seating area by a window.

People are riding on this ‘sleep bus’ between San Francisco and Los Angeles instead of flying

The SleepBus - an alternative way to get from San Francisco to Los Angeles.

Instead of flying or driving themselves, people travelling between San Francisco and Los Angeles are choosing to make the trip on this custom designed bus.

Named the SleepBus, it travels overnight from San Francisco to Los Angeles, as you sleep comfortably on a bed.

You'll Never Guess What Goes On Inside This Truck

The inside of the truck has been fitted out with private bunk style pods, that have a privacy screen, personal power outlets, a reading light, WiFi, and fresh sheets.

There’s also a SleepBus attendant on each trip to answer any questions and to take care of you during the ride. As well as coffee and tea facilities, seating areas, and a restroom.

You'll Never Guess What Goes On Inside This Truck

The bus departure time is 11pm in both San Francisco and Los Angeles, and the trip generally arrives at the destination around 5-6am, but they let you keep sleeping until 9am.

Apparently it’s been very popular since launching because they’re currently sold out, but they aim to have 10 new buses on the road in August 2016.

This Small Backyard In San Francisco Was Designed For Entertaining

SEED Studio, a landscape design company in California, has created a multi-tiered backyard oasis for a house in San Francisco.

The couple that live in the house wanted to have a garden that could entertain large gatherings, but at the same time feel intimate for when it is just the two of them.

This modern landscaped backyard has a raised outdoor lounge deck, a wood burning firepit, succulents, bamboo and a vegetable garden.

From this angle, you can see how the backyard relates to the house, with a small bbq space on the lowest level,

The backyard has been split by height and by materials to allow for different areas to be defined. Gravel has been used for the firepit level, while wood has been used for the upper level. A path made from pavers connect the different spaces.
