A Curved Wood Slat Accent Wall Spans The Living Room And Dining Area Of This Home

Interior architecture firm InArch, has completed the design of a home in Vilnius, Lithuania, and one of the key design details is a wood slat accent wall.

Spanning the width of the open plan living room, dining area, and kitchen, the wood slat wall is curved towards the ceiling and becomes the backdrop for the television and wall-mounted speakers. A fireplace with a black surround that incorporates firewood storage, separates the living room side from the dining area.

Let’s take a look around the main house…

Architect Andrew Mann and interior designer Katie McCaffrey of Angus – McCaffrey Interior Design collaborated on the partial remodel of the house, which was originally built in 1974 by Roland Miller Associates.

Andrew focused on form making, while Katie defined a material palette different in feel and mood from their client’s city house. Exposed wood beams and a wood ceiling complement the wood floors and furniture found in the open plan living room and dining area.

A Dining Area Was Included In The Design Of These Stairs

Matt Fajkus Architecture has recently completed a 950 square foot addition to a home in Austin, Texas, and included in the design, is a dining area that makes the most of the available space.

A modern dining area with a steel table and wood dining benches.

Usually, the space under the stairs is often left open in an interior, however this time, the designer decided to create a dining area.

The dining area has two wood benches. The first bench has been built as part of the overall stair design.

This Combined Kitchen And Dining Room Is Defined By An Overhead Wood Accent

Kitchens and dining rooms are often combined in an open floor plan, much like this example by White Houses Costa Dorada together with interior designer Susanna Cots.

In this home, they connected and defined the two areas with a wood slat accent that travels from one wall at the end of the kitchen onto the ceiling and through to the dining area.

This Room Divider Is An Artistic Screen Between The Dining Room And Entrance To The Home

Walker Warner Architects together with interior designer Nicole Hollis completed this modern house in California, and included as part of the design, is a one-of-a-kind custom artistic room partition by artist Michele Oka Doner.

The Tiburon Bay View House has stairs leading from the front door down to the dining room, where guests are immediately greeted by the two-ton cast bronze screen.

An artistic and sculptural bronze screen separates the dining room from the stairs.

The formal dining room can be seen through the artistic screen, however due to the design of the partition, the natural light can travel through from the entryway and also from the dining room windows.
