A Curved Wood Slat Accent Wall Spans The Living Room And Dining Area Of This Home

Interior architecture firm InArch, has completed the design of a home in Vilnius, Lithuania, and one of the key design details is a wood slat accent wall.

Spanning the width of the open plan living room, dining area, and kitchen, the wood slat wall is curved towards the ceiling and becomes the backdrop for the television and wall-mounted speakers. A fireplace with a black surround that incorporates firewood storage, separates the living room side from the dining area.

A Retractable Curved Glass Wall Is The Face Of This Small Round Cabin

French company Lumicene has shared their latest project, LumiPod 6, a small cabin that has been installed for their client, that has views of Lake Geneva.

The 279 square foot (26sqm) cabin is circular in its design, with vertical wood cladding the exterior.

At the front of the cabin, there’s a 19 foot (6m) diameter Lumicene window, allowing the interior space to be occasionally transformed into an outdoor space.

The joinery is custom made in natural oak wood veneer, the ceiling panels are covered with wool felt, and the bed, which looks like it’s floating, is integrated into a shallow niche.

Inside the LumiPod, there's a bedroom, a kitchen area, a dining area, a bathroom, and a built-in wardrobe.

The gray, white, and wood bathroom is located behind the bedroom and includes floor-to-ceiling small square tiles that cover the walls.

A Curved Roof Covered In Diamond-Shaped Zinc Shingles Adds A Creative Touch To This Home

A Curved Roof Covered In Diamond-Shaped Zinc Shingles Adds A Creative Touch To This Home

Canadian architecture firm BORTOLOTTO has designed a new house in Toronto, for custom-home builder Farhad Kazmian, owner of Abond Homes.

The house replaces the original family home, and also serves as a showpiece for his business.

The eye-catching design of the L-shaped house is accentuated by a softly curved roof that extends outward from the straight edge of the A-frame and cradles the courtyard and front door in three dimensions.

Using Grasshopper architectural modeling software, the architects created a Bézier curve, giving the roof an organic feeling that softens the overall form of the building.

The bird’s-eye view illustrates how the house hugs the front courtyard, which is hidden from view at street level by a line of mature cedar trees.

A closeup look at the roof reveals that it’s clad with hand-laid, diamond-shaped zinc shingles that both recall a shimmering reptilian while also drawing connections with neighboring slate roofs. The handcrafted twisted zinc snow guards prevent falling snow.

Further into the house and the exposed rafters clad with red oak veneer continue the roof’s dynamic shape. The structure’s swirling design is matched by a curvilinear staircase.

Here’s a look at the design of the roof, showcasing the various curves, as well as a glimpse of how it was built on-site using steel ridge beams, tipping to an outrigged A-frame steel structure, and infilled with conventional timber joists that fan out to form a curve.

The Stella Lounge Chair Has A Curved Backrest That Creates A Cheerful Shape

Danish design duo Busk + Hertzog have created ‘Stella’, a wide and comfortable best lounger chair that has a curved backrest.

The designers of % Arabica chose to leave the space completely open by creating a small courtyard around a U-shaped glass box, blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor areas.

Due to the variety in weather throughout the year, the different areas of the coffee shop, including the outdoor space, feature an air conditioning system, enabling customers a comfortable place to sit even on a hot day.

This Modern Bathroom With Curved Walls Looks Easy To Clean

Greg Shand Architects designed a modern bathroom as part of a house in Singapore, that has a nautical-themed design.

Stainless steel, a material not often seen in the world of bathrooms, features strongly in this one as it covers the walls and curves onto the ceiling.

Glass partitions separate the dual showers from the rest of the bathroom, while a large skylight above adds an abundance of natural light, which also reflects off the small white tiles that cover the curved wall.
