Mythical Kitchen has lots of original and outrageous food combinations that keep me on my toes. Doritos and Reese’s peanut butter cups are favorites in some people’s book and honestly, the two doesn’t sound awful together in my opinion. I believe it would be the perfect savory to sweetness ratio that would balance each flavor out. Also, this reminds of other snacks that are out such as Chex mix sweet and salty chips. In the tutorial by Mythical Kitchen, Mythical chef Josh creates a recipe to smash these two snacks together. Although this recipe is a process to make, I think it’s a fun idea to see how it would taste in the end. I was amazed by the customized Doritos Reese’s bag they had for this recipe as the end product. The Reese’s peanut butter cup Doritos chip is a cool concept to make.

Ingredients:

  • Doritos
  • Reese’s peanut butter cup
  • maltodextrin powder
  • cornstarch
  • powdered sugar
  • ma se ca
  • yellow cornmeal
  • baking powder
  • water
  • oil

Directions:

First, you want to separate the chocolate and peanut butter from the Reese’s. Then, in the tutorial by Mythical Kitchen, there are step-by-step instructions on how to create a fine powder from the chocolate and peanut butter that was dissected. The homemade corn Doritos were made up of 4 ingredients, and use a Doritos cutter to get the perfect Doritos shape.

Next, fry the tortilla chips for about 10 seconds in the oil and immediately toss them in the two fine Reese’s powder. Let them sit on the cooling rack when finished.

Overall, I love how this recipe was deconstructed and made from scratch. It was fun to watch, and I think I would take the method to make my own tortilla chips without the chocolate or peanut powder. I want to try this combination together and might get one of my friends to make this one day. Imagine eating both of the two together in one bite, weird but maybe good.
