Kitty Lee Architecture has designed the remodel of a 1960’s red brick house in Australia, and included in the updated interior is a dining room with a custom wine storage wall.

To showcase the home owner’s extensive wine collection, the dining room was relocated from the front entry area to the rear of the house with new bi-fold doors opening onto a new deck for entertaining.

The wine storage wall, which is made from wood, includes lower cabinets, a countertop, and a shelving unit with a chevron design.

A Matte Black Kitchen Contrasts The Lighter Interior Furnishings Inside This Apartment

Studio Arthur Casas together with architect Marina Werfel has designed the interiors of a modern apartment in Paris, France, that includes a striking matte black kitchen.

The kitchen, which is a key design element in the apartment, strongly contrasts the light furniture found in the nearby living room.

The Exterior

The home is located within a building that’s located on one of the most elegant streets of Paris, where the major fashion stores and art galleries are concentrated.

Throughout the home is a monochromatic color palette, with wood and steel design accents. Central to the open plan living room and the kitchen is a large steel beam in the ceiling that’s been painted white, while wood beams have been left exposed.

The Countertop In This Kitchen Continues On To Become A Desk, TV Stand, And Window Seating

FIGR Architecture Studio has designed a modern home for a family of five in Ascot Vale, Australia, that includes a clever kitchen design.

The kitchen has a large island, black cabinets, wood accents, and black penny tiles, however, it’s the countertop that caught our eye.

A modern kitchen with black and wood cabinets, a penny tile backsplash, and a white countertop.

The countertop continues on from the kitchen and transforms into a small desk area.

Let’s take a look at the other areas of the home…

The front of the home has a white exterior that matches the white picket fence, while a large black-framed window protrudes away from the house.

The architect explains the inspiration behind the home, “The project takes inspiration from its surroundings and context and reinterprets its findings through a contemporary take on a traditional Victorian elevation, resulting in a considered outcome and street integration.”

Creative Shelving Shapes Were Designed For This Living Room Wall That Also Includes A TV, Fireplace, And A Pair Of Window Seats

Jula Cole Design has shared with us photos of a recent project that included a new look for a living room wall. Inspired by designs seen in hotels and bars in the Nashville area.

The wall includes a recessed TV above a built-in linear fireplace.

Flanking both sides of the TV and fireplace are custom-designed shelves with a diagonal design. The shelving units are made from white oak wood with a custom stain and slight whitewashing, while the shelving has a natural cane backing.

The designers also worked on other rooms of the interior like the home office and the primary bedroom.

In the home office, the same wood in the living room was used, however this time it was finished with a darker stain. A natural feeling wallpaper was used to provide a backing for the shelves, and at the same time creating a sense of drama when paired with the dark green painted walls.

A Long Movable Shelving Unit Helps To Create A Hallway Inside This Apartment

A Long Movable Shelving Unit Helps To Create A Hallway Inside This Apartment

A movable shelving unit has been included in the refurbishment of a Brazilian apartment that was completed by Bruno Rossi Arquitetos and Piratininga Arquitetos.

Included as the key design element in the apartment, the 85 foot (26m) long modular hanging shelving unit runs the length of the interior, from the living room all the way to the bedrooms, and is used to help define the hallway.

Wood and steel shelving that hangs from rails can be moved depending on the requirements of the home owner.

The shelf system is composed of modular steel panels and wood cabinets, providing storage and display areas for the adjacent room. Above the shelves is a row of overflowing plants that add greenery to the interior.

Plants cascade over a movable shelving unit in this apartments living room.

The unique design element about these hanging shelves is that they can be moved along a rail, allowing the shelves to be reconfigured depending on how the homeowner wants to use the space.
