Decor Ideas – Wall Mounted Vases Inspired By The Tiny Gaps In Pavements

Hyunhee Hwang of Extra&ordinary Design has tried to capture her amazement of the strength of nature through the Teumsae vase series.

The Teumsae vases are reminiscent of plants growing through the tiny gaps between pavements and stones, with the name Teumsae being a Korean word for ‘a little gap between things’.

The series of vases has three designs, the first is ‘Teumsae on wall’, a modular wall mount vase system that can be mounted at three different points, allowing the user to choose the angle of the vase.

The second design is ‘Teumsae in layers’, that comes with 3 pieces in different sizes and depths, enabling the user to combine and overlap them to create depth and shadow.

The third design, ‘Teumsae on table’, is a modular table-top vase collection, that comes in a set of three vases of differing heights, each with a vessel and a lid that acts as a metaphor for the plants breaking through the ground.

Ben Rousseau Has Re-Interpreted The Iconic 1960’s Bubble Chair

British designer Ben Rousseau has launched his latest furniture collection that pays tribute to the original 1968 bubble chair by Eero Aarnio.

Ben mentions, “I always loved the original by Aarnio, because it is such an iconic 60s design and yet it has never dated. Bubble Chairs look as good by the side of a pool or hanging from a tree as they do within contemporary apartments or town houses.”

With this in mind, Ben gave the chair his own reinterpretation, that includes a specially engineered steel ring containing LEDs, so that the Bubble Chair could be illuminated as an engraved artwork.

Ben’s design allows two people to sit together comfortably with hanging or standing configurations, be illuminated or plain in a variety of colors and finishes, and the cushion can be customised in with fabric or automotive quilted leather.

The desk includes a upper shelf that’s ideal for showing off a small plant or a decorative item, while underneath the desk is a lower shelf, that’s large enough to hold magazines and books.

By placing the shelves on opposite ends, it allows for the work area to be open, with enough space for a chair.

The Flying Dishman Is An Outdoor Daybed Designed To be Shared With Friends

The Flying Dishman Is An Outdoor Daybed Designed To be Shared With Friends

Weltevree has collaborated with designer Joep van Lieshout, to create ‘The Flying Dishman’, an outdoor daybed that’s partly made from recycled waste containers.

The name of the Flying Dishman refers to the myth of the Flying Dutchman: a ghost ship forced to sail the seven seas forever.

Joep explains how this myth of the eternally traveling ship touches upon important environmental topics: “The ongoing travel underlines the continuous circle of recycling: the current fate of the ocean and the plastic soup’s contradiction between sustainability and ecological disaster.”

By using recycled plastics, the daybed can withstand daily weather conditions and requires next to no maintenance.

The circular design of the daybed allows for a 360 degree view, and can accommodate 2 to 3 people laying down, or 6 people sitting up, with added cushions for comfort.

Lucie Koldova has designed the Jack o’Lantern lighting collection, that has subtle metal frames holding a luminous pearl in the form of a handblown matte glass sphere.

The collection, designed for lighting manufacturer Brokis, includes a table lamp, a wall light, and a pendant light.

The wall light is made from five minimalist frames that are joined together in a single module, allowing five glass spheres to be included, which rely on nothing more than gravity to stay in place.

The pendant light is similar too, in that its subtle and geometrically balanced design offers a wide variety of possible combinations, and can be hung separately or in vertical lighting arrangements to create a clustered look.
