Designer Michael Hilgers has created a collection of side tables and coffee tables that have a unique folded steel design.

Manufactured by Casala, the three tables in the NIVO collection are all different sizes, however, their folded steel tabletop allows them to all serve the same function, that being, having a second level.

Michael Hilgers talks about his design: “A Nivo table that acquires extra function by simply adding a fold to the tabletop. This fold elegantly develops into an extra level that can be used to place a cup of coffee or decorative items on.”

Designer Marco Lavit has created a ‘Hut’, a new outdoor furniture design that’s made to feel like a welcoming and comfortable nest.

Created for furniture manufacturer Ethimo, ‘Hut’ includes long wood slats made from Siberian Larcie or Accoya, which are fashioned in a way that’s inspired by the shapes of a tipi.

The NEA Stool Offers Minimalist Seating With A Subtle Pop Of Color

As part of Itercrea’s 2019 workshop, designers Oscar Vera and Laura Sanjuan created NEA, a small modern metal stool with a comfortable round seat.

The design of the stool was born from the search for a sense of buoyancy and lightness that also integrates both elegance and comfort.

The NEA stool made from thin metal and a curved cushion, offers a modern seating option with a subtle pop of colour. #Stool #ModernStool #ModernFurniture #MinimalistFurniture

Since Warm Air Rises, This Suspended Drying Rack Is Designed To Take Advantage Of That By Elevating Clothes Up To The Ceiling

New Zealand based designers George Wilkins and William McCallum, of George and Willy, have created a contemporary version of the traditional hanging drying rack, often found in back country cabins.

George and Willy have created a modern hanging drying rack, that's suspended from the ceiling using a seamless pulley system, allowing the clothes rack to quickly dry laundry by utilising warm air trapped in the ceiling space. #HangingDryingRack #Design #Laundry

Crafted in their workshop attached to their design studio, the duo have used materials like wood, metal, pulleys, and rope, to create their drying rack, making it easy for the end user to assemble.

These Swedish Hand Woven Wire Baskets Are Delicate And Durable

Using the same skills used to craft wire baskets in the 1920’s, Swedish design brand Korbo have created a line of baskets that are sturdy and reliable.

Woven by hand using single wires, the Korbo baskets are made individually by skilled men and women to ensure that each basket is of the highest quality and results in no two baskets being exactly the same.

These modern baskets will work with any home decor style and are made from copper and brass wire.

Made from four kinds of wire, including galvanized steel, acid proof stainless steel, copper, and brass, the baskets are designed to be capable of holding up to all kinds of hard work.

This modern wire basket holding firewood is made from stainless steel making it sturdy.

The reliable material also means that the baskets can be used in all kinds of environments, from the bathroom, the entry way, kids playrooms, the bedroom, the kitchen, and even outside.

These modern handwoven wire baskets are great for storing toys in a child's playroom.

In order to maximize functionality, Korbo handwoven wire baskets can be hung using the handles built onto them and a sturdy basket hanger that allows them to be securely attached to the wall.

Liners can be put inside the woven baskets to give them a softer look and enable them to be used as laundry baskets.

If you want to use the baskets outside, there are also liners that are made from a special type of fabric that prevents too much evaporation while also letting excess water out.

They can be used outside as planters, storage bins, transport vessels and just about anything else you might need a bin for outside.

Each piece consists of a cluster of hollow metal stainless steel extrusions capped at each end, which are then covered with white enamel and polished.

When talking about the inspiration, Michael Young says, “The concept came in two ways. A while back, I had worked with cloisonné in Northern China and began to look at how patterns and colors came together, and how metal could be shaped to create divisions of form. Some of my earlier attempts were inspired by oil on water and the natural patterns generated by this when taken in a snapshot. For Gallery ALL, we looked at these in a new way by self generating forms created by the computer, and then we extracted the patterns in two dimensional slices.”

“We had differentiated various functional forms into seating, consoles and tables,” he says. “Next we applied these patterns so they would then be twisted into 3 dimensions and extruded vertically. In production you cannot color the vertical surfaces of the pieces, so we played with making a stunning polished edge.”

“The metal is molded around huge clay forms, and the internal structure is created over several weeks. It is completely artisanal, and there is no other way to produce this than with historical methods combined with contemporary craft techniques.”

When explaining his inspiration for the design, Santiago Bautista explains, “When we go out in nature and sit on a pile of rocks we always find our perfect spot. Suddenly one of the edges becomes a seat, an armrest or even a table. Inspired by this idea, I wanted to create a very open sofa concept which would invite the people to use it in their own way.”
